We are staying at a brand new city campsite, within walking distance from the city center. Since it still early in the season we were almost alone when we arrived yesterday. Today when we came back from our visit to the city, a caravan of 22 Dutch campers and caravans had arrived.

Normally we are waving like crazy as sson as we see an overlander, because the are very rare where we have been. But here in Europe they are everywhere.

Especially Germans and Dutch people prefer to travel together in a large group. The Italians start out alone, but they always find friends on the road and arrive in a group anyway, the guy at the campsite told us.

We feel kind of civilized staying at a proper camp site, great showers, clean toilets, waste bins and Internet connection. This is like state of the art luxury, compared to what we are used to. We can really feel that we are back the clean and well organized in Europe again.

Before we left Riga we did we stored up with food and things we need for the rest of our trip in the more expensive countries we are going to travel at the end of our journey. We also filled up our gas stove, since we need to cook more now.

Next stop will be Estonia for a couple of days and after that a few days visit in S:t Petersburg. Then we plan to take the northbound inland route in Finland and make a short visit to Murmansk too. When we are this far north we can just as well to go to North Cape too, before heading south through Norway. This means we have still quite a bit of distance to cover.

On our way to Estonia we took a little detour to check out an outdoor vertical wind tunnel we had read about. But we didn’t fly this time. Only one person at the time could be fly, then it is no fun for us.
